Steven D. Zimmerman, CFP®, ChFC®, CLU®
Co-Founder and Senior Financial Strategist
Steve co-founded the firm with Susan in January 1988. As senior consultant for financial planning at MAP, he mentors the next generation of planners about business and personal financial plans. Steve has extensive knowledge of business, company benefit plans, state, tax, investment, and retirement income planning. Steve earned his bachelor’s degree in Natural Science and Math from St. John’s University, Minnesota. Steve’s credentials in financial services include Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU). Steve has been recognized as a “FiveStar Best Personal Wealth Manager” for several years by Twin Cities magazine.


Susan Zimmerman, ChFC®, CLU®, LMFT, CCTP
Co-Founder and Program Director
Co-founder, author, and Program Director at MAP, Susan has developed innovative tools that integrate your unique history and money personality into your overall planning. Her MAPA system (Motivated Asset Pattern Assessment) helps you gain self-awareness of styles and preferences and prioritize meaningful goals for financial life planning. Susan has extensive credentials in both financial planning and psychology. Her ChFC & LMFT (Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist) bring a beneficial blend for improving your planning experience while making meaningful progress. Susan’s Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science is from the University of Minnesota and her master’s degree is from the Adler Graduate School of Psychology.
Dan Talmo
Investment Analysis Coordinator
Dan has been with MAP since August 2000 and oversees investment strategies and portfolio analysis and asset allocation. Dan is knowledgeable in the multiple facets of your financial plan and the investment holdings you maintain. He supervises multiple steps in the investment process at MAP, and works diligently with the investment strategies team to integrate our analytical research and portfolio recommendations into your comprehensive plan.


Dan Heiar, CFP®
Partner/Sr Financial Planner
Dan is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional with MAP since April 2011. We especially appreciate Dan’s compassion for clients and team members, along with his significant charitable work outside of MAP for Team World Vision. Dan has always maintained a high interest in advanced continuing education and ways to integrate new services with MAP.
Dan has worked in the financial services industry since 2001. In addition to helping our personal planning clients, he oversees our client’s business retirement plans as well as owner benefits and transition planning. Dan finds fulfillment in playing an integral role in helping clients enhance both their financial and their human assets. He enjoys assisting clients to fully understand how money concepts impact their personal situation throughout several life stages. This results in optimal money decisions and meaningful progress toward achieving financial objectives.
Mark Brice, CFP®, ChFC®
Partner/Sr Financial Planner
Mark is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional with MAP since July 2012. Mark’s extraordinary analytical and technical skills from his financial and engineering experience have served MAP clients well. At the same time, Mark has a genuine deep caring for the needs of MAP clients and highly values offering comprehensive services tailored for the diverse needs of our clients whom we serve. Mark has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Minnesota and joined MAP with industry experience as a consultant helping advisors better serve clients. He helps clients in making quality decisions that align financial resources with core values, motivations, and preferences. Mark embraces MAP’s comprehensive and mindful approach to guiding clients’ financial well-being. As a collaborative partner, he focuses on encouraging mindfully aware and attentive choices throughout life’s many transitions.


Nick J. Augustin, CFP®, ChFC®
Partner/Sr Financial Planner
Nick is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional with MAP since July 2016. He has been steadfastly committed to delivering custom planning strategies that transform the framework for how our clients make life decisions while honoring their values and motivations. Nick’s industry experience prior to MAP included work for the State of Minnesota Disability Determinations Services evaluating Social Security Disability claims for five years. He earned his B.A. at the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire with a major in Political Science and minor in History. Nick values helping clients experience the joy of expanding their money preferences awareness, peace of mind, and financial confidence. He lives in St. Paul with his wife Sara and their fuzzy adopted cocker spaniel, Rosie.
Becky Sebastian, CFP®, CDFA®
Partner/Sr Financial Planner
Becky is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional with MAP since May 2015. She attained the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst certification in September 2020. Becky’s considerable talents span analytical and technical skills to a natural aptitude for seeing the big picture and delivering clear communications in all circumstances. Her authenticity and reliability are of great benefit to clients and MAP team members. Becky has a bachelor’s degree in Finance from St. Cloud State University with industry experience in personal banking, Trust services, and insurance. She facilitates the development of financial plans and the diverse aspects of their implementation, while coordinating both. This ensures a high level of integrity and quality of outcomes. Becky deeply values helping clients gain confidence and security throughout their financial planning experience at MAP.


Lee Ryan, CFP®
Financial Planner
Lee joined MAP in July 2018 as a Certified Financial Planner™ professional (CFP®). He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Physiology from the University of Minnesota. Lee has a penchant for helping clients achieve financial independence to reduce stress and increase their overall sense of well-being. Lee began his career in the financial services industry in 2012 as an advisor and project manager. He excels at finding unique solutions to ensure financial peace of mind and create a smooth, enjoyable client experience from start to finish.
Emily Briney, AFC®, CFP® candidate
Financial Planning Resident
Emily joined MAP in June 2020 after completing her Bachelor of Science degree in Financial Counseling and Planning at Iowa State University. She attained the Accredited Financial Counselor certification in January 2022. Emily appreciates MAP’s focus on clarity and honesty in relationships with clients and is excited to continue learning from the MAP team. She is passionate about financial counseling and mindful approaches to financial well-being. Emily has previous experience from a financial services firm and continues to grow her knowledge in preparing and supporting lead advisors in delivering client’s financial plans. She is in the process of earning her CFP® designation.

Matt Morrison, CFP® Candidate
Financial Planner
Matt joined MAP in June 2021 as a financial planning resident, after beginning his financial services career in 2019 at an independent investment advisory firm. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and a management minor from the University of Minnesota. Matt believes there should be a balance between achieving financial independence and maintaining quality of life and strives to help clients along that journey. He commits himself fully to finding tailored solutions and implementing client goals through collaboration and MAP’s comprehensive approach, ultimately cultivating an enjoyable and beneficial experience.


Tom Healy
Investment Analysis Specialist
Attracted by MAP’s distinctive process for financial planning, Tom joined the firm January 2021 as an Investment Analysis Associate. He has bachelors’ degrees in finance and history from the University of Minnesota. Tom values the commitment MAP makes in providing unbiased and sound advice to clients. Tom is enthusiastic about learning all aspects of MAP’s business operations, from technical planning to communications and education. He especially appreciates that the firm works to provide clients with comprehensive knowledge and the peace of mind that comes from knowing they are financially secure.

Michael Stang
Investment Analysis Associate
Michael joined MAP in October 2021 as an Investment Analysis Associate. He has knowledge of account maintenance, financial plan preparation, and investment reporting. He graduated from the University of North Dakota with a bachelors’ degree in Finance. Michael appreciates MAP’s core values and the distinct process for financial planning. He is passionate about helping people achieve financial freedom and ensuring clients have peace of mind. Michael brings a strong work-ethic, positive attitude, and a keen eye for detail. He resides in the South Metro. Outside of work he enjoys golfing, skiing, and watching Minnesota sports teams.

Erika Steuck FPQP®
Client Operations Specialist
Erika joined MAP in November 2021, as a Client Operations Specialist. Erika was drawn to the firm’s values and mission of helping clients see the big picture of their finances, prioritize customized objectives, and help them to accomplish their goals.
With career experience in Education and Business Operations, Erika combines her passion for helping people, with accrued data and technological acumen for the clients of MAP. She utilizes those skills in the operational aspect to implement client strategies. Erika finds it rewarding to aid in clients reaching their financial, and in turn, life goals.
Sue Osterberg, CPCU®, FPQP®
Client Service Specialist
Sue joined MAP in the Fall of 2021 with more than 25 years of experience serving clients in the insurance and travel industries. Her operational experience and skills allow coordinated alignment of the MAP Team, its operations, and most importantly, its clients. Sue balances a drive for organization with a passion to serve the human side, believing clients here should feel like family. Her charter is to work side-by-side with the MAP Team to facilitate client progress, security, and prosperity. Sue is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Aspen University in Colorado. Sue and her husband, Eric, live in Shakopee with their two cats.


Derek Feeser, AIF®, CIMA®
 Investment Analysis Associate
Derek is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) and has been with MAP since August 2022 as an Investment Analysis Associate. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Minnesota. While obtaining his degree, Derek spent four years in banking where he gained experience making recommendations to improve client’s financial lives. He appreciates MAP’s focus on providing the best possible client outcome through its tailored and comprehensive approach to financial planning. Derek made his first investment at age 16, which sparked his passion for investing and planning for the future. He spends his free time playing basketball and spending time with his cat Echo.
Brandon Lee, CFP®
Financial Planner
Brandon is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) professional with MAP since June 2022. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Personal Finance – Financial Planning at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He values MAP’s ability to build strong relationships with our clients as we put their needs first by providing authentic guidance. Brandon has a passion for helping clients understand their finances in a way that makes sense, guiding them to achieve their financial and life goals. He brings an altruistic personality which can be seen in his life goal of one day creating a non-profit organization that will provide education to refugees and first-generation families on financial planning topics.


Gabe Mattick, CFP® Candidate
Financial Planning Resident
Gabe joined our team in September of 2023, after working as an associate advisor for one year for a financial planning firm in Western Michigan. Gabe values MAP’s ability to simplify complex financial planning topics for clients to increase confidence and reduce stress around their finances. He enjoys assisting MAP advisors in crafting financial plans with prudent recommendations, so clients have clear objectives to create a fulfilling financial life. Gabe earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance from Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. He lives in Saint Louis Park.
Austin Deike, CFP® Candidate
Financial Planning Resident
Austin joined MAP in September 2023 after completing his bachelor’s degree at Minnesota State – Mankato – in Finance, with an emphasis on Financial Planning and Insurance. He was initially drawn to MAP’s commitment to learning each client’s story, and providing advice customized to each person’s individual experiences and values. Austin is passionate about educating clients to make informed decisions that are personalized to their best interests. He believes MAP provides the necessary tools for clients to gain a full understanding of how to attain their own financial peace of mind. He currently resides in Rosemount with his wife Rachel, where they enjoy playing pickleball.


Rachel Jongbloedt, CFP® Candidate
Financial Planning Resident Rachel joined the MAP team in Summer 2024 and is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) candidate. She has a master’s degree in psychology and values helping clients find balance and simplicity in their finances. Rachel enjoys helping people gain comfort about where they are in their financial journey, while achieving financial flexibility so they live the life they choose. When not at work, Rachel enjoys sewing and spending time with her husband and their two children, Patrick and Izzie.
Brenda Garcia
Client Service Specialist
Brenda joined MAP in 2025 as a Client Service Specialist. She comes from a military background with the United States Marine Corps, serving on active duty as a Supply Administration Clerk and was deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Brenda values MAP’s genuine care for their clients and has a passion for supporting people to achieve their goals. Brenda has an associate’s degree from Inver Hills Community College. Currently residing in Rosemount, she supports her husband’s military career, and loves to spend quality family time.


Patrick Gustafson
Financial Planning Resident
 Patrick joined the MAP team in June of 2025 and is pursuing his CFP® certification. He was drawn to MAP for their strong culture and commitment to provide comprehensive financial planning. He finds fulfillment in helping clients identify their wants and needs and creating the blueprint to achieve their personal and financial goals. Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from Iowa State University in 2021. He takes an organized and analytical approach to financial planning, while displaying a high level of emotional fortitude. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys being with family, playing golf or basketball, and supporting Iowa State athletics.
Anastasiia Miller
Financial Planning Resident
Anastasiia became part of MAP in the Summer of 2025, bringing her background in education with a deep commitment to helping others feel confident about their financial futures. After graduating from Carleton College with a degree in Psychology, she spent several years teaching at a local charter school. There she honed the skills of clear communication, thoughtful planning, and personalized support. Financial advising became a natural next step – a profession that allows her to continue educating, but with a focus on making financial concepts approachable and actionable. She was drawn to MAP for its people-first philosophy as well as its emphasis on aligning financial strategies with each client’s unique values, similar to her goals in the classroom. Outside of work, Anastasiia enjoys playing tennis and bouldering. She lives in South Minneapolis with her husband and their beloved cat named Ham.


Brandon Davis
Financial Planning Resident
 Brandon joined MAP in June 2025 after earning his B.B.A. in Financial Planning and Financial Markets from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He was drawn to MAP’s emphasis on personalized financial advice and its focus on building deep, long-term relationships with clients. Brandon is passionate about helping individuals gain clarity and confidence in their financial lives. He believes in the power of education and collaboration to guide clients toward informed, values-based decisions. Brandon is especially interested in investment strategy and goal-based planning. He currently lives in Centerville, Minnesota, and enjoys staying active through hockey and golf, as well as spending time at the cabin with family and friends.
Jeff Ahlstrand
Business Operations Coordinator 
Jeff joined MAP in the Spring of 2021 after 15 years as an Event Planner. His ability to manage details on multiple projects is a significant asset to the MAP team. It contributes to several areas that aid overall coordination of services that help clients achieve their goals. Jeff values MAP’s mission to provide unbiased, compassionate financial planning that focuses on mindful integration of financial and human assets. Jeff has a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management and a Minor in Business from the University of Minnesota. He is passionate about the value of time and money and how MAP helps their clients find the right balance of both. Jeff is a Twin Cities native and currently resides in Apple Valley.
